LU plans action against students involved in violence
The University of Lucknow is planning largescale disciplinary action against students who were involved in pelting the police with stones and causing damage to varsity property on Friday.
On Sunday, LU scanned all photographs published in different newspapers to take strong action against the trouble-makers.
“We have identified students who were involved in attacking the police with stones and causing damage to university property. Enough evidences are available to nail them. The photographs are quite clear. The university has served notices to many students and awaiting their reply,” said Nishi Pandey, proctor, LU.
Pandey said students who are visiting the hostel illegally will face action. She said hostel provosts have been asked to give written information, if such students are found in hostels.
Violence rocked the Lucknow University campus on Friday, as protesting student leaders locked the main entrance gate and staged demonstration, demanding action against one Amrit Mishra and others for opening fire on hostellers.
They pelted the cops with stones when the latter tried to

get the locked gates opened. There was panic on the campus and police resorted to lathicharge to disperse nearly 200 protestors.
After the violence rocked the Lucknow University campus, vice-chancellor SB Nimse wrote a letter to DGP Javeed Ahmad on Saturday, seeking his help to arrest the criminals who are not varsity students and yet move around on the campus and create law and order problems.
The vice-chancellor said, “Most of the violent incidents are a result of free movement of such criminals on the campus. Regular students do not engage in such activities. The police arrests them, but they are released on bail.”
