WhatsApp group to ensure proper police deployment at banks

-

The state police have come up with an innovative idea to ensure proper police deployment at banks to prevent law and order issues in wake of demonetisation.

Inspector general of police (IGP), Lucknow Zone, A Satish Ganesh has directed his subordinates to form a WhatsApp group comprising police officials and bank authorities to remain updated about visitors’ rush and cash availability at every branch. He said it would help officials to do police arrangements at different branches accordingly.

The IGP said all police station in-charges often complained about unavailability of sufficient number of police personnel to deploy at banks in their jurisdiction areas to ensure peace. He said the issue of improper arrangements was persistent despite making many efforts.

“Considering the situation, I have directed the district police chiefs of all 11 districts of Lucknow Zone to make a WhatsApp group and ask bank authorities to keep them updated

about rush and cash availability at their banks. It will help police officials to be prompt in police personnel’s deployment at banks according to cash availability and rush at particular branches,” said Ganesh. The IG issued these directions to district police chiefs on Friday, while holding a zonal review meeting over law and order situation. The zone comprises Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Raebareli, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Amethi, Sultanpur, Faizabad and Ambedkar Nagar.

Ganesh explained that the banks officials would be asked to keep police updated in advance if they had less cash or more crowd. The police personnel would be moved to banks having heavy rush from the branches where rush was low. He directed the police chiefs to keep special focus on banks in rural areas where cash crunch was continuously being reported since ban on old `500 and 1000 currency notes on November 8.

NO SELFIES WITH CELEBS, VVIPS FOR POLICE

Posing and clicking selfies with celebrities and VVIPs may now prove costly for police personnel. The IGP A Satish Ganesh has warned police personnel of strict action if they were found clicking selfies while on duty at an event.

“I have issued this directive after spotting several young police personnel busy clicking selfies at an event where a singer was performing in the state capital on Thursday, while visitors were getting out of control. This would not be tolerated in a disciplined force,” Ganesh emphasised.
