PM no ‘faqir’ but a rich man, says Mayawati
TARGETING MODI BSP chief says her party will continue to protest against demonetisation inside and outside the parliament
Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati said on Saturday that he was not a ‘faqir’ but ‘maaldaar’ (not a seer but a rich man).
She said the BSP would continue to protest against demonetisation inside and outside the parliament.
Mayawati issued the statement after the PM called himself a ‘faqir’ during a rally in Moradabad on Saturday and said he was not worried about the criticism of the opposition.
Having lost her key aides to the BJP, Mayawati described the PM as “a well-wisher of the affluent”.
She wanted to know why Rs 64,000 crore, which had come into the banking system after demonetisation, was not being used for the welfare of the poor.
“The PM claims demonetisation would end corruption but he is not bothered about 90 per cent of the people who are suffering due to his dictatorial attitude. Why doesn’t he help them now? BSP will oppose the decision despite Centre’s vilification campaign against me,” she said.
Mayawati alleged changes were made in the Income Tax Act to help BJP legitimise its black money.
She alleged the Centre was discriminating against nonBJP states in supply of new currency notes. “People will ensure the defeat of BJP in the elections and in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, they will send him (Modi) back to Gujarat,” Mayawati added.
