The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials brought Amanmani Tripathi, a Samajwadi Party candidate for next year’s state assembly polls, to Lucknow to recreate the sequence of events in his wife Sara Singh’s death while going to Delhi from Lucknow in a car in July last year. LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials brought Amanmani Tripathi (in pic), Samajwadi Party candidate for next year’s state assembly polls, to Lucknow to recreate the sequence of events in his wife Sara Singh’s death while going to Delhi from Lucknow in a car in July last year.

The CBI arrested Amanmani on November 25 for his wife’s alleged murder and passing it off as a road accident.

Amanmani is the son of former minister Amarmani Tripathi and Madhu Mani, both of whom are serving life term for murdering a poetess Madhumita Shukla, in Lucknow in 2003. The CBI had also probed the poetess’ murder after which the duo was convicted in the case.

Amanmani was initially kept in Delhi after arrest and was brought to Lucknow after taking his police custody remand to probe the matter. “The process of reconstruction of sequence of events is likely to be carried out after getting his custody remand extended from court as it is ending on Monday. Before this the CBI is also planning to take him to his native place in Gorakhpur,” a source in the CBI said.

He said Amanmani would be presented in a city CBI court for extension of his remand on Monday.

The source said the crime scene reconstruction would be done to find loopholes in Amanmani’s account of the incident. He had claimed that his wife Sara, 27, died in a road accident in Sirsaganj, Firozabad when both of them were on their way to Delhi in a Swift Dzire car for a holiday on the night of July 9, 2015. Amanmani himself was driving the car in which Sara was found dead.

Amanmani said the car toppled into a roadside ditch after he lost balance to avoid collision with a bicyclist. Sara had suffered multiple injuries and died in the accident. Sara’s mother Seema Singh had raised doubts as Amanmani, who was also in the same car, remained unhurt.

Seema later filed an FIR against Amanmani and his family for allegedly murdering her daughter in a pre-planned murder. The state government had transferred the case to the CBI following Seema’s repeated demands.

AMANMANI IS THE SON OF FORMER MINISTER AMARMANI TRIPATHI AND MADHU MANI, BOTH OF WHOM ARE SERVING LIFE TERM FOR MURDERING A POETESS MADHUMITA SHUKLA.
