Now, enjoy a Venetian gondola ride at Janeshwar Mishra Park
ADDED ATTRACTION 10 gondolas imported from China. CM inaugurates boat rides which will be open to public from today
On a hazy Sunday afternoon, visitors at the sprawling Janeshwar Mishra Park (JMP) were thrilled with the latest attraction to the park, as chief minister Akhilesh Yadav inugurated the much awaited gondola ride.
Akhilesh, his wife Dimple Yadav and children took the first ride on Sunday afternoon. The gondola ride would be open to public from Monday, said Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) officials.
Ten gondolas have been imported from China for the park. The exotic boats ran on battery and needed high maintenance, said officials. “The boats are common in Italy and so would be an attraction for people at the park. Till now, the fad for boat ride has been high and all paddle boats remain engaged every day,” said officials at the park.
With inauguration of the majestic venetian boats, the park now has 10 gondolas , 70 paddle boats and three motorboats.
Initially the price for a 20-minute gondola ride was `100 per person, but the CM lowered it to `50 during the inauguration. Each boat can accommodate four people and so booking the entire boat for a ride would cost `200.
Anup Yadav, vice chairman, LDA announced the revised fares of the gondola ride.
The fare for motor boat is `50 and for paddle boat ride (20-minute duration), the visitors are required to pay ` 20.
People gathered to take a glimpse of the decked up gondolas as they were parked at the lake for inauguration. Ibrar, the boatman who took the chief minister for the ride said, “For me, this has been the best ride ever. I was overwhelmed to take the CM on my boat. He asked my name and talked to me during the ride.”
