- HT Correspondent

LUCKNOW: To improve its financial condition, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation will make a hotel in Charbagh on PPP Model , build a slaughter-house at Bindova village on PPP model and make use of its land for commercial purpose. A proposal to this effect was passed in the LMC house meeting on Sunday.

The house was primarily called to select new six members for its executive committee. After retirement of Amit Dwivedi, Kailash Yadav , Devendra Varma , Girish Mishra, Ifamullah Faiz and Sunita Yadav, six seats of executive committee had fallen vacant.

Praveen Kannaujia, Suresh Chandra Awasthi, Lakhvinder Pal Singh , Akhilesh Giri, Ajay Awasthi and Mohammed Salim were elected unopposed in their place.

The LMC house also decided to regulate parking at Bhaisakund crematorium and to bring the entire crematorium under CCTV surveillance. The proposal of opening a catle pond at Kanha upvan was also passed.

The house decided to permit a hotel on 21,000 square ft of land in Charbagh on PPP Model . According to the agreement LMC would earn `15 lakh and after 30 years the building of this hotel would be transferred under the control of LMC. The tender process for the hotel building is on after permission from the state government.

The proposal to increase rent of LMC properties was also passed in the house, despite opposition from Samajwadi Party.

There are 2,807 properties of LMC in Charbagh, Lalbagh, River Bank Colony, Mahanagar and Alambagh and most tenants of these buildings are paying rent between `100 to 200. Some of them have converted their residences into commercial units.

Many residents in Guru Nanak market of Charbagh have turned their flats into hotels. A number of shops have dug up basements without LMC permission . Many of them are earning handsomely but are not ready to pay increased rent to LMC.

The LMC is suffering loss because it is not able to charge house tax on its own properties which would be more than the total rent it receives from them.
