LMC awaits ECnod for ₹180cr projects
LUCKNOW: With 300 development works worth ₹180 crore in limbo due to the state assembly polls, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation has requested the Election Commission (EC) to grant permission to float tenders for these projects.
The LMC plans to construct a number of roads, boundaries of parks and animal hospitals. It also plans to beautify the parks and open a public toilet in the city but is waiting for clearance from the EC for all these projects.
An LMC official, who refused to be named as he was not authorised to speak to the media on the issue, said: “Selection of a project management consultant for the smart city work is the most important work that has been put on hold. Lucknow is lagging behind in the smart city work. It has failed to appoint a consultant till date despite reminders from the centre to do so.”
Nine companies have made a bid for the task.
TheLMC constructed a public toilet with separate facilities for women at Loreto crossing after a request from the parents of students of Loreto Convent Intermediate College and the Municipal Nursery School. It is awaiting a formal inauguration because of the model code of conduct.
Construction of animal hospitals at Kanha Upvan and Garhara have been affected as some tenders could not be floated before the model code of conduct came into force on January 4.
Similarly, construction of an LMC office at Chakbast Kothi in Qaiserbagh is affected as tenders were not issued. This, too, needs the Election Commission’s permission.
