HC DISPOSES OF PETITION ON SECONDARY EDU WEBSITE

-

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Friday disposed of a public interest litigation ( PIL ) petition, after the statement of the state government counsel that the website regarding vacancies in all secondary schools of the state will be reopened as a government order was issued in this regard on December 31, 2016.

A division bench of justices Amreshwar Pratap Sahi and Sanjay Harkauli heard the PIL, filed by a local lawyer and another. The petitioners sought direction to continue the said website about the vacancies in secondary schools for transparency in appointments.

According to petitioner ML Yadav, on July 19, 2014, the then principal secretary, secondary education, had issued a GO and information about vacancies was made available online.

The petitioner alleged that after six months, when the principal secretary was replaced, the website was closed and anomalies were committed in the appointments of teachers in secondary schools.

The counsel for the state government informed the court that the GO had been issued for reopening the website and it would be made operative soon. In view of this statement, the court disposed of the PIL.
