UP Travel Mart to promote tourism
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), in association with the state government, organised the third edition of three-day Uttar Pradesh Travel Mart from Saturday to promote tourism in the state.
Many top bureaucrats and leading names from travel and tourism industry were present on this occasion. Navneet Sehgal, principal secretary, tourism, UP government, in his welcome address, said: “UP has a lot of potential to attract national and international tourists and revenue.”
Chairman, FICCI, UP Council, LK Jhujhunwala said, “We have organised the travel mart in partnership with the UP government to push tourism sector in the state. Uttar Pradesh has the potential to grow as a major tourist destination in the country. We have to improve our infrastructure, while providing better hospitality to the tourists.” Under the third edition of the event, exhibition and business meetings are scheduled on Sunday and Monday.
Main highlights of the threeday event would be interaction of 50 foreign tour operators from across the world with those involved with the tourism industry of the state, including tour operators or officials of the state government.
The UP government would also make all possible efforts to promote state as a leading tourist destination for heritage, wildlife, adventure, leisure and Buddhism tourism. On site visits by foreign tour operators of various tourist destinations of the state are also part of the event. Both the state government and the Centre are trying hard to promote tourism in the state. The union government has already laid down several plans for promoting Buddhist heritage sites in the state.
