NEW DELHI: Help is pouring in for Neemuch cop, inspector Daulatram Jogawat, who was fatshamed by socialist Shobhaa De in a tweet earlier this week.

A team of doctors from Dr Muffazal Lakdawala’s Centre for Obesity and Digestive Surgery, Mumbai, visited Jogawat, who weighs 180 kg due to insulin imbalance as a result of complications after a gall bladder operation, on Saturday.

Administrative manager of the Centre, Floyd D’Souza first met ASP Rakesh Sagar and discussed Jogawat’s condition. D’souza said they would run a series of tests on Jogawat and then will decide whether he would be treated with medicines or surgery. Jogawat said he would be the happiest man if he manages to become ‘normal’ again.

SP Manoj Kumar Singh, who is aware of the developments, said funds could be arranged from the police welfare fund, which is funded by the state government.

Earlier, VLCC wellness centre owner, Vandana Luthra had also offered to provide free treatment to Jogawat. Jogewat said that he will be overwhelmed with joy if he sheds weight and is fit again. He said that a top police official has also advised him to get operated at Sri Aurobindo Hospital in Indore free of cost. On the other hand, the district Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Singh said that the state government runs a police welfare board. If needed, the Board will make finance available for the Inspector’s treatment.
