Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday that jails in UP would be jails in true sense after the BJP forms a government here. Modi was addressing a poll rally in Mau.

He said bahubalis (musclemen) in UP go to jail smiling since they get protection, security and run their syndicate from the jail. “Their karobaar will come to an end after BJP forms a government in the state,” he said.

He said the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav rode a sinking ship like the Congress because he feared defeat soon after the poll dates were announced. Congress is a sinking ship. They campaigned together at some locations and stopped holding joint road shows after realizing that the BJP is going to win,” Modi said.

Modi said India was being hailed across the world because of a stable government at the Centre.

He promised that loans of small famers would be waived off in first meeting of the UP cabinet after the BJP came to power.

Picking on Akhilesh Yadav again, Modi said Akhilesh recently said his donkey remark was actually a joke. “I want to ask this government if state of police stations across the state is also a joke; if poor law and order is a joke. If making fun of Modi ensures you a sound sleep, do it. But please don’t make UP a joke. During last five years of your rule, you have made UP a joke.”

Modi said had the UP chief minister had development of UP on his mind, he would have talked beyond donkeys. “Vaise Gujarat ke gadhe bade shandar hote hai (donkeys of Gujarat are very majestic)”. he said.
