‘Akhilesh should complete his apprenticeship first’

Taking a dig at the UP chief minister, union home minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said Akhilesh Yadav should complete his apprenticeship first to run the most populous state and then he should stake claim to the post of CM again.

Speaking to reporters here, Singh said, “The UP chief minister has already accepted that he is on apprenticeship. After all, how long will he remain on apprenticeship?”

Targeting Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Singh said, “A senior Congress leader called the youth Congress leader immature. I don’t know whether he is immature or not since I have never seen him working closely, but the senior leader is very experienced and her guess must be true.”

He also criticised the ruling Samajwadi Party’s ‘kaam bolta hai’. “They say kaam bolta hai. Work doesn’t speak. It should be visible on the ground. It is not there. The SP government and the previous BSP regime didn’t carry out any development in the state,” Singh said.

About the war of words during the election campaign, he said, “In poll speeches, words should be chosen very carefully. But this is not happening in this election. Use of unrestrained words against the prime minister is very unfortunate. I am very hurt by it. The intemperate language has hurt the public too.”

Everyone should take care that the dignity of the prime minister’s position is never lowered.
