Almas designs KCA’s entry in semi-finals

Ignored for selection in UP team for the ongoing Vijaya Hazare Trophy despite performing well, Almas Shaukat on Monday underlined his all-round ability with a fascinatin­g performanc­e for the Kanpur Cricket Associatio­n at the 10th Choudhary Asif Ali Memorial State Cricket Tournament at Barabanki.

After snapping three wickets, Shaukat went an hammering an unbeaten 50 in 51 balls with the help of eight hits to the fence as KCA trounced Lucknow’s Unity Cricket Academy by 10 wickets to make it to the semifinals, at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ stadium.

Shaukat and Sagar Sarma (31, 51b, 2x4) stitched together unbeaten 87 in 18 overs as KCA romped home in style. Earlier, Sandeep Yadav (16), Shantanu Srivastava (14) and Dhiraj Yadav (12) could cross the double figure mark for UCA.

Shaukat conceded just five runs in 2.3 overs to take three wickets, whereas Rishabh Rai had two for two as UCA collapsed for 85 in 32.3 overs.

BANERJEE CRICKET

CAL XI defeated Media XI by six wickets in a league match of the Samual Banerjee Memorial Veterans Cricket Tournament, at the Chowk stadium here. Needing 115 to win in 20 overs, CAL XI romped home in 17.4 overs with Saurabh Bhalla hitting highest 58. For Media XI, Rajiv Anand scored 53.

BIG VICTORY

Dhruva Cricket Academy (DCA) notched up a facile 113-run win against Aryavrat Cricket Academy (ACA) Blue to collect full points in the 1st SRM Under-16 Cricket League, at the Aryavrat College ground here on Monday.

Aviral led from front and struck 61 to help side cross 200run mark while batting first after winning the toss. Ashish (37) and Jaivardhan (32) too made useful contributi­ons.

Soumya Aryan remained the most successful bowler for ACA< bagging three for 33, whereas Shambhav Mishra and Prabhav Mishra shared four wickets between them. BRIEF SCORES DCA 201 in 34 overs (Aviral 61, Ashish 37, Jaivardhan 32, Kishan Tewari 26, Soumya Aryan 3 for 33, Shambhav Mishra 2 for 20, Prabhav Mishra 2 for 52) beat ACA Blue 88 in 32.2 overs (Aditya 29, Ansh 2 for 3, Ekavish 2 for 16, Jai Vardhan 2 for 19).

SHAILESH EXCELS

Shailesh Singh smacked 52-ball 55, which contained four boundaries and two sixes as Drona Cricket Club defeated Standard Cricket Club by 108 runs in a league match of the Annapurna Mullick Cricket Tournament, at the Northern Railway stadium here on Monday. In other match of the day, K Sports defeated Cricket Promotion Group by 20 runs.
