After winning a bronze at the national science film festival for their short film on sparrows, a group of students are now working on yet another film on the air quality index of Lucknow.

After deep research work, the scrip is finally ready and the shoot too has been completed. The team is soon to get down on the editing work.

Shameem Singh, teacher at City Montessori School’s Mahanagar branch who led the team during their last film and is guiding them with the current idea said, “I see a lot of spark and creativity in children. Thus I decided to motivate them to work on such ideas. The students are really enthusiastic and put in their best to do justice to the ideas and themes that we select.”

Shameem said that the team collected air quality index data for Lucknow for some months and then did some analysis. They referred to books and internet to find out reasons and harmful effects of high air quality index before the young team got down to work.

The team has tried to depict the idea in a very unique way. “We have shown a super genius child who has hallucinations of nature communicating to him. He interacts with plants, flowers etc and is deeply concerned about the harm being done to nature,” said Shameem.

The boy studies about environment and finally comes up with three rules for its conservation. “The boy visits the mayor and after much persuasion succeeds in getting the rules implemented,” said Shameem.

The idea behind selecting the theme is to send a message among student fraternity that they too can do something if they have the will.

While for the last film the children did the camera and editing work on their own, this time they have taken assistance from the school’s camera team.
