Uttar Pradesh cops have often complained about the pain of separation from family and friends during festivals.

Policemen contend themselves by celebrating Holi and other festivals with colleagues for the sake of maintaining law and order.

However, this Holi, a video of a sub inspector singing about their miseries has gone viral among policemen and on social media sites.

In the video, the cop parodies an old Hindi song even as his colleagues enjoy it.

The police station and the city where the song was recorded are not obvious in the video.

The song complains about the department’s strict rules and failure to grant leave to cops.

The cop laments that even if granted leave, the leave are so short that most personnel do not have enough time to travel to their hometowns.

Moreover, harsh action is taken against them if they fail to rejoin duty on time.

Sometimes, even FIRs are lodged against them if they fail to report on the scheduled day.

The old cop also rues deductions under various pretexts from their salaries.

A sub inspector on the condition of anonymity said though the song was recorded in a lighter vein, it taunts the government’s leave policy for cops and other security personnel.

The previous government focused on modernisation of police force but failed to improve their working condition, the cop said.

The cops in the state are now hopeful that the new government would also care about their problems besides equipping them with new gadgets and weapons, concluded sub inspector.
