A gang rape and acid attack victim was again attacked with acid on a train on Thursday morning allegedly by the perpetrators of the earlier attacks on her.

Kamla (named changed), who works at Lucknow’s Sheroes Hangout Café, was admitted to the trauma centre here in a critical condition.

The victim was on way to Lucknow from Unchahar in the Ganga-Gomti Express when she was forced to drink acid by the attackers who have been roaming scot free despite police complaints against them after each attack on her.

She has been under attack since 2009 when she was gang raped that was followed by an attempt on her life and then attacked with acid over the years.

Ashish, a ‘Stop Acid Attack’ volunteer, said, “Acid has probably entered her body and her throat seems to be affected most. She is unable to speak and is in tremendous pain.”

Kamla had gone to her home in Unchahar on March 10 as her daughter had her Class 10 examination. She was returning to resume her work at the cafe when she was attacked, said Ashish. Kamla’s husband and their children live in Unchahar.

She was travelling alone on the train on Thursday when attacked. Vinod Yadav, SP, GRP said, “No application has been received from the victim’s husband as yet. The FIR would be registered only after he files a complaint.”

THE VICTIM WAS ON WAY TO LUCKNOW FROM UNCHAHAR IN THE GANGAGOMTI EXPRESS WHEN SHE WAS FORCED TO DRINK ACID BY THE ATTACKERS

“Kamla was gang raped in 2009, and a case was filed in Unchahar. However, no action was taken in the case and the culprits continued to move freely. In 2012, she was attacked with a knife. In 2013, she was attacked with acid and now once again she was made to drink acid,” said Laxmi, an acid attack survivor.

Laxmi has sought support for Kamla on social network sites and has requested people to press for the arrest of her culprits who are moving freely for years.

Talking about the laxity in Kamla’s case, Ashish said, “Every time the attack occurred, FIR was registered. But no action was ever taken.

The perpetrators went to jail for some time but came out on bail soon.

There never came a time when Kamla’s statement could be recorded and identification of the accused done by her before the police.”

He said the perpetrators of the attacks on Kamla belong to Unchahar and even on Thursday they boarded the train near Mohanlalganj area and forced her to drink acid.
