The change of government is having its effect on government teachers too as now there is a dress code for teachers of secondary schools in Lucknow.

According to directives of district inspector of schools (DIoS), teachers of secondary schools cannot wear T-shirts or jeans in school.

The directives issued by district inpector of schools Umesh Tripathi says teachers should wear clothes which suit the dignity of the profession.

“The teachers should avoid such clothes which compromise the dignity of the profession,” Tripathi said.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Tripathi said, “The decorum must be maintained as teaching is a noble profession so there must be a dress code for teachers too. We will discuss the issue with the higher authorities before coming up with further directives, but presently it is expected that teachers would avoid casuals like jeans and T-shirts to maintain the dignity of the profession as they are the most respected class of the society.”

Not only that, the teachers are expected not to talk on mobile phones during teaching hours, besides keeping the school premises neat and clean. If there are any pan or pan masala stains inside schools then the teachers must ensure that they are cleaned.

Also, teachers cannot smoke or chew gutkha or pan during school hours. The directives say that teachers should not have pan masala, tobacco, cigarettes or pan during the school besides ensuring that shops selling such products are not located near schools.

If such shops are running then, with the help of authorities, the schools should make sure that such shops are closed down.

Prayers in all schools would be made compulsory and the start and end of school must be indicated by ringing of bell.

Teachers are expected to report to higher authorities and nearby police station any sort of teasing of students by rowdy elements.
