ALLAHABAD, KANPUR STATIONS TO GET INT’L STANDARD MAKEOVER
The railway ministry has selected two busiest stations of North Central Railway (NCR)— Allahabad junction and Kanpur central railway station— under the station redevelopment programme.
“The main objective is to develop these stations as per international standard,” said chief public relations officer, NCR Bijay Kumar adding that they will be developed through public private partnership (PPP) mode.
“These two stations are among the 23 that have been selected from across the country under the mega project,” he said.
As per Kumar, these stations would be developed ‘as is where is’ basis in order to provide best of comfort and convenience to passengers and stakeholders.

“The development will primarily consist of upgrading passenger amenities by new construction, renovation, alteration to existing station building, platform surfaces, circulating area among others,” he said.
“The project cost for redevelopment of Allahabad junction is ₹150 crore while for Kanpur it is ₹200 crore,” he said.
Kumar said the tender process had been initiated and the last date for submission of documents was March 28, 2017.
