MAN’S BODY WITH LIMBS TIED FOUND IN SACK

Decomposed body of a 35-year-old man stuffed in a sack was found in a large pit near Dhatingra village on IIM road in Madiaon area here on Thursday evening. The victim’s limbs were tied with ropes and face was also covered with a piece of cloth. Police said the victim was murdered somewhere else and the body was disposed off later in the pit to conceal the crime. A local said the body was lying in a pit that was allegedly caused due to illegal mining of earth being done by a group of contractor­s. He said the pit was now partially filled by garbage dumped there and the body was lying underneath it. A group of people, who were grazing cattle nearby, spotted the body at around 4pm and informed the locals, who in turn, alerted police. District police spokesman, Hari Chandra said the body seemed to be around 3-4 days old and the victim was apparently strangulat­ed to death. He said the body, however, had been sent for post-mortem examinatio­n and efforts were on to ascertain the identity of the deceased. In another incident, body of an infant boy was found in Kukrail drain on Kursi road in Gudamba on Thursday morning. A local named Srikishan informed the police after spotting a pack of dogs pulling the body out of the drain at around 8.30am after which cops reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem examinatio­n. They are trying to ascertain the cause of death as well as identity of the infant.
