Yogi impact: Cops in a ‘cleanup’ act
SSP and her subordinates take cleanliness oath at police lines. Drive carried out across 43 police stations and offices in the district
In compliance of directives from chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi, SSP (Lucknow) Manzil Saini along with other police personnel initiated cleanliness drives at police lines and police stations of the city on Friday.
Saini and her subordinates took an oath at the police lines to maintain cleanliness and perform their duties with honesty.
The SSP said the cleanliness drive was carried out across all 43 police stations and other police offices of the district. She picked up the broom to initiate the drive and also instructed officials to ban paan masala at police stations and offices. Cops were also asked to get the paan stained walls white-washed.
The armoury, lock-ups and storerooms at the police lines were cleaned properly and waste papers and garbage were disposed of, she said.
Later, the SSP also made chapattis in police personnel’s mess at the police lines. She spent over two hours with women cops in making chapattis. She also directed the police lines in-charge to repair some dilapidated rooms and buildings on the premises.
Meanwhile in Agra, the men in khaki wielded the broom, so that police stations all over the city wore a different look on Friday.
“Most of the police stations are spruced up after the cleanliness drive undertaken by the self -motivated in charges. The move followed the state government stress on cleaner workplace. We have to ensure that cleanliness continues and becomes a habit,” SP City Sushil Ghule told HT on Friday.
Cops at New Agra police station cleaned their workplace on Thursday night itself, so that it looked much better on Friday.
Similar scenes were seen at Sadar, Tajganj, police lines, Kotwali, Chatta and tourism police stations.
Policemen in the district jail also took an oath to maintain cleanliness.
In Kotwali police station in Kasganj (Aligarh division), pledged cleanliness and after that, they took up brooms to clean their premises.
