Disproportionate assets: FIR lodged against DIoS Tripathi

-

LUCKNOW: The state vigilance wing on Wednesday finally lodged an FIR of prevention of corruption act against Lucknow district inspector of schools (DIoS) Umesh Tripathi at Vibhuti Khand police station in the disproportinate assets case.

The confusion had been prevailing among senior police officials over registration of an FIR against Tripathi for the last two days after home department had filed an affidavit in the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Monday stating that an FIR is already lodged in the matter. However, the state vigilance wing received formal orders from the home department on Tuesday for registration of an FIR in disproportionate assets case.

Sub-inspector Abhishek Tiwari, in charge of Vibhuti Khand police station, said the FIR was lodged by Ram Narain Ram, an inspector with vigilance wing, alleging Umesh Tripathi of amassing assets more than his earnings. He said the vigilance wing had conducted an open inquiry against Tripathi in the disproportionate assets case and lodged an FIR after finding substantial evidences against him.

The vigilance inquiry against Umesh Tripathi had been pending since a Jaunpur resident Bal Chand sought an open vigilance inquiry against the former in 2012. The inquiry remained pending until a petition was filed in the high court in November 2016 seeking disposal of the case. The vigilance wing submitted their inquiry report within five months after intervention of the high court.
