Chris Gayle’s bat with which he reached the 10,000-run mark, would be put up for auction at the Chris Gayle Foundation launch on June 6.

After the match, the West Indian batsman thanked his fans saying, “Big Thank You to the fans for the love and support over the years! Many more entertainment to come! #10000CG #Champion #KingGayle.”

India and Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Yuvraj Singh also congratulated him, saying, “Congratulations to @henrygayle on completing 10 thousand t20 runs ! Legend and making @IPL the most entertaining cricket tournament.”

While RCB teammates congratulated him with pictures of fake currency notes, others lauded him for making batting look like child’s play

Gayle, who was just three runs short of aggregating 10,000 runs in the shortest format of the game before Wednesday’s play, started cautiously; scoring them off the first five balls he faced, before launching Basil Thampi into the stands to start the carnage.

Chris Gayle was ably supported by his Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli from the other end. Kohli donned the anchoring role while letting Gayle go after the bowlers.

The duo helped Royal Challengers Bangalore reach the 50-run mark in 41 deliveries as they geared up to unleash the explosive power-hitting at their disposal.

It took them just 22 balls more to bring up the century stand, as Gayle and Kohli plundered Gujarat Lions at will.

Gayle took 20 off a Ravindra Jadeja over that included two boundaries and two sixes, one of which was caught in the deep by Brendon McCullum but his hat had touched the ropes.
