Lucknow’s ASCA beat Sri Lankan side on tour

Lucknow’s Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy scored a convincing 31-run win against CCC School of Cricket, Colombo to take 1-0 lead in the threematch series of its internatio­nal tour, at the Prison Ground (Colombo) in Sri Lanka on Wednesday. With the help of a sparkling half-century by opener Sarthak Bhardwaj (58), ASCA made 130 in 28 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, Colombo side collapsed for 99 in 24.4 overs. Sashank Verma took three for 23, whereas Saklap Jain and Amaan Siddiqui shared four wickets between them.

UNDER-16 CRICKET

K Sports Cricket Academy (KSCA) defeated LDA Coaching Centre (LDACC) by five wickets to make it to the final of the Under-16 Cricket Tournament, at the Pt Raas Bihari Tewari Stadium here on Wednesday.

MANISH EXCELS

Manish Majila’s all-round show helped Jyoti Cricket Club (JCC) beat Divine Cricket Club (DCC) by 74 runs to collect full points in the Prime Sports Trophy Cricket Tournament, at the Multi Activity Ground here on Wednesday.

CRICKET TEAM

Cricket Associatio­n Lucknow on Wednesday announced its 14-member team for the All-India Women’s Cricket Tournament, starting April 24 at Kolkata. The team includes, Komal Hora, Garima Singh, Kazal Tamta, Antima Singh, Ayushi Srivastava, Juhi Pandey, Akansha Mishra, Shilpi Yadav, Preeti Kushwaha, Tanu Singh, Muskan Singh, Shobha Devi, Anshu Tewari and Arpita Bhargava.

GIRLS BADMINTON

Shazia Khan and Kavya Kushwaha won the singles titles in the senior and junior categories at the CMS Inter-Campus Badminton Tournament here on Wednesday. Shazia beat Ali 13-11, 11-8, whereas Kavya outplayed Shreya Yadav 11-5, 9-11, 11-0.

WEEKLY BRIDGE

NC Bhattachar­ya and GN Mehrotra managed 59 percent points to win the match point pairs event at the Weekly Bridge Tournament, at the Lucknow Club here. In all, eight pairs played seven rounds of three boards each. Bhattachar­ya and Mehrotra won with a narrow margin of 0.34 match points and with a moderately good score.

They were followed by Shantanu Rastogi-TP Khare (58.46%) and AK Sinha-SQ Wajahat (53.97%).
