School TT off to a flying start

- HT Correspondent sportslucknow@gmail.com

Table tennis at your doorstep—This seems to be the new mantra of success of the Uttar Pradesh Table Tennis Association—which is conducting events during school time so that event at the grass root level can get major boost.

The maiden edition of the Shivani Inter-School Table Tennis Championship, which got off to a flying start on Wednesday, with the participation of over 200 paddlers from different schools is justifying UPTTA’s move.

“Yes, this is what we are trying to do in all the districts and this event is just a kick-start in this direction by the Lucknow District Table Tennis Association and the Shivani Public School,’ UPTTA secretary Arun Banerje told HT soon after inaugurating the event.

“There is a tremendous response to the event as school kids love to play the game during school hours only as they remain reluctant to play the game by coming back to school in the oddhours,” added Banerjee.
