AAP stages demonstration, demands CBI probe
LUCKNOW: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday staged a demonstration in protest against the alleged e-tender scam in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
During the protest outside the civic body’s office in Lalbagh, AAP workers demanded a CBI probe into the scam and accused former mayor Dinesh Sharma (now deputy chief minister) of failing to fix responsibility for the anomalies.
“Even after several representations to the municipal commissioner, nothing has been done to fix responsibility of senior officials of the municipal corporation involved in the e-tender scam,” said Vaibhav Maheshwari, state spokesperson, AAP.
“We are demanding action against municipal commissioner, zonal officers and finance controller who are responsible for the scam,” alleged Maheshwari.
He also demanded that FIR be lodged against those involved in the scam.
Gross anomalies came to light after the LMC started e-tendering process in October 2015. After that, LMC constituted a one-member committee to probe into the scam.
On the basis of the report submitted by the committee, one clerk and six divisional engineers were indicted in the scam.
“Only a clerk and six divisional engineers have been indicted in the report submitted by the one-member probe panel of the LMC. The civic body is trying to shield its senior officials,” said Mahendra Pratap Singh, AAP leader.
“Since October 2015, when the LMC started the e-tendering process, officials attached with the tendering committee have flouted the norms laid for opening of tenders,” he added.
