KANPUR : On his first visit to parched Bundelkhand, chief minister Yogi Adityanath undertook a surprise inspection of two villages, district hospital, farmers’ crop purchase centre and a school before holding a scheduled review meeting with officials, on Thursday.

After getting first-hand account of problems faced by people, the chief minister addressed the review meeting and directed officials to gear up to implement development schemes in seven districts falling under the Bundelkhand region.

Soon after de-boarding the helicopter at Jhansi police lines, the chief minister proceeded to the district hospital for the surprise visit. He inspected the wards, ICU and the medicine distribution system and interacted with patients admitted there. He asked from patients about the availability of medicines at the hospital and also about the behaviour of doctors and the other hospital staff with them.

To improve the health services, the chief minister discussed the possibility of providing the hospital with more facilities. He was accompanied by principal secretary health and the chief medical superintendent.

He directed the hospital officers to ensure that patients do not face any inconvenience in their treatment.

The CM also made a surprise visit to Jhansi’s Takori and Kakori villages and inspected the development schemes carried out there.

In Takori, he had to face a group of angry women who squatted in front of him while demanding assurance for installing a water tank in the village.

They told the CM that leaders have visited the village and listened to their water woes on several occasions but did nothing to solve the problem.

The chief minister immediately summoned the concerned officials and directed them to start the work for setting up the water tank and laying the pipe line. The women after getting assurances cleared the passage for the CM.

Later, the CM visited Galla Mandi (crop purchase centre) and interacted with farmers. One of the farmers, Ramkishore Yadav, apprised the chief minister that they have to stand in queue since 4am every day for the sale of wheat to the government. The CM directed the centre in charge to introduce easier system for sale of farmers’ yield.

Later, the chief minister also met party workers at para medical college.
