‘Modi’, ‘Sonia’, ‘Mulayam’ shown as siblings on paper!
BAREILLY: Prem Shankar Kashyap 27, was shown as a father of eight imaginary kids on paper allegedly by the in-charge of a local public distribution shop (PDS) to siphon off extra rations. Kashyap’s ‘children’ were also named after famous politicians. The list includes names like ‘Modi’, ‘Mulayam’, ‘Akhilesh’, ‘Dimple’ and ‘Sonia’.
Birthdays of all these children were mentioned as January 1. The list starts with ‘Rahul’ whose birth date was shown as January 1, 2000, ‘Modi’ (Jan 1, 2001), ‘Akhilesh’ (Jan1, 2003) followed by Dimple, Sonia, Monika, Mulayam and Amit – all born on the same day in different years.
Kashyap was born in 1990, but his ration card details show that his first child – ‘Rahul’ was born when he was 10, almost a decade before his actual marriage. “I was married in 2010,” Shankar said. What more, Kashyap’s real daughters – Priyanshi, 3 and Divyanshi, 3 months, were not included on the list of his large family. Shankar came to know about these discrepancies when he checked the status of his ration card online. “My real daughters are not included on the list. Instead, I was made a father of eight imaginary children by the PDS in-charge,” alleged Shankar. The said PDS in charge Jabar Singh Yadav also owns a cyber café, where villagers register for ration cards.
Jabar Singh reportedly added over 600 imaginary people in the ration cards of 121 people to draw extra rations. These extra rations, according to villagers, were sold to the general stores.
“In the last three years, Jabar Singh built two houses and bought many properties in the city. He is a relative of a Samajwadi Party member, so no one dared to question him during SP regime,” said Prakash Kashyap, another villager. Kashyap, with other villagers, has approached district officials with their complaint regarding the fraud.
“I have ordered an investigation against one Jabar Singh Yadav who has been accused of forging information on ration cards of people to draw extra rations,” said Ram Sahankar Singh, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Kalan block of Shahajahanpur. “We are also checking the details of beneficiaries registered at the PDS shop,” he added.
The officials have also asked villagers to check their ration card details online and report discrepancies.
When contacted, Jabar Singh Yadav refuted the allegations. “The ration card is filled by operators of the card owner. I am not involved in the process at all. All these allegations against me are false and politically motivated.”
