Majila hits sparkling century

LUCKNOW:A sparkling century by Manish Majila guided Jyoti Cricket Club notch up a fascinatin­g 179-run win against Awadh Cricket Academy in a league match of the Prime Sports Trophy Cricket Tournament, at the Multi Activity Ground here on Thursday.

Majila struck an unbeaten 103 in 77 balls with the help of nine fours and seven sixes. Ashraf (79), Praveen Sharma (53*) and Shoiab (41) also made useful contributi­ons as JCC piled up 316 for two in 30 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, ACA got out for 137 in 27.4 overs. Vansh Raj (4 for 34) and Manu Awasthi (3 for 16) did well for JCC.

ASCA WIN

Lucknow’s Abhijeet Sinha Cricket Academy (ASCA) continued their winning streak at the Nelson Mendis Under-14 Internatio­nal Cricket Trophy, defeating Kikindiwel­a Cricket Academy of Sri Lanka by 20 runs in Colombo on Thursday.

Sarthak Bhardwaj struck 92 as ASCA piled up 172 for four in 30 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, KCA made 152.

Star Montessori Club and Promotion Group scored contrastin­g wins in the 3rd Rahul Kapoor Memorial Cricket league here on Thursday. Star Montessori Club defeated Panthers Cricket Academy by seven runs, whereas Promotion Group beat SDS Cricket Academt by 41 runs.

STATE CRICKET

As many as 10 teams would be seen in action in a state level cricket tournament, starting April 27 here. The teams include, NDBG Group, Creative Group, LDA Coaching Center, Lucknow Cricket Academy, Akhil Infra, Rudransh Cricket Club, UP Timber, Dhruv Cricket Academy, Sound Images, and Jyoti Cricket Club. Tournament offers Rs 51,000 to the winners and Rs 21, 000 to the runners-up.
