Muzaffarna­gar bids final adieu to its son

Thousands of people including government officials, political and social leaders, attended the last rites of Sukma martyr Manoj Kumar in Neergajani village here on Wednesday.

The CRPF head constable had sacrificed his life in the Maoist attack in Sukma district of Chattisgar­h two days ago.

CRPF officials including DIG Praveen Kumar, DIG Sunil Dutt, Dy commandant Yogesh Kumar, assistant commandant Pankaj Kumar reached the village in early morning hours.

UP cabinet ministers Satish Mahana and Suresh Rana, BJP leaders Bharatveer Gurjar, Veerpal Nirvaal and many other social and political personalit­ies along with district magistrate DK Singh, SSP Babloo Kumar also participat­ed in the last procession of the martyr.

Satish Mahana and Suresh Rana handed over cheques of Rs 25 lakh to Manoj Kumar’s mother,

Rajesh Devi while CRPF DIG also handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to her. The ministers also assured the aggrieved family of all possible help on behalf of government.

They also assured to provide a government job to one of the family members of the deceased. The last rites were performed by J.Kumar, elder brother of Manoj Kumar.

The CRPF personnel offered a ‘Pushp Chakra’ before the start of the last procession and played a mourning tune. Villagers paid tribute to the martyr while a large number of people were seen on the terraces of their houses to bid a final adieu to the departed soul.
