AGRA: Deputy chief minister and minister for public works department Keshav Prasad Maurya said here on Wednesday that neither would harassment of any activist be permitted nor morale of the police force be allowed to fall.

Maurya, who was here to address a training session of BJP workers, took up the matter of saffron outrage in the city with the officials and asked for impartial probe so that action could be taken against the guilty. He also reviewed implementation of various schemes with officials.

Incidentally, on the same day, nine BJP MLAs and the party MP had gone to Lucknow to apprise chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath about the atrocities against party activists, including 14 activists of Bajrang Dal and VHP who were allegedly beaten up in police custody before being sent to jail after Saturday clashes at police stations.

“These MLAs and MP from Agra had a meeting with chief minister in Lucknow today so they went ahead. In any case, I have taken up the matter with officials here so that the guilty are taken to task,” Maurya said.

He claimed that he was aware of the events and had asked the officials to inquire if any activist had been framed in wrong cases and to take action against policemen found guilty of atrocities as alleged.

Reacting to Akhilesh Yadav’s remark of placing the state in the hands of the saffron brigade, Maurya suggested Akhilesh should ‘have some rest because he has been rejected by masses in recent election.”

The government under chief minister Aditya Nath Yogi is doing extremely well, two or three incidents are being blown out of proportion. But we are confident of putting an end to these stray incidents too,” he said.

“We are committed to making Uttar Pradesh number one state in nation. We have successfully implemented Anti Romeo Squads statewide and have now come up with Anti Land Mafia Squad which would weed out illegal encroachments,” he said, assuring pot hole free roads by June 15.
