Muslim kar sevaks visit disputed site again
AYODHYA: A group of Muslim ‘kar sevaks’ paid their second visit to the disputed site in Ayodhya on Wednesday afternoon and had darshan of Ram Lala there.
The previous visit by Shri Ram Mandir Nirman Muslim Kar Sevak Manch president Azam Khan and his supporters was on April 20 evening when they also brought a truck full of bricks to donate for the construction of the Ram temple.
During Wednesday’s visit, they also went to the samadhi (mausoleum) of Mahant Ram Chandra Paramhans Das, a prominent leader of the Ram temple movement and former president of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas.
After offering floral tribute at the samadhi, they pledged to make the Mahant’s dream of Ram temple construction come true.
Khan told reporters that construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya was essential as it would open the doors for development of the pilgrim town.
He said since the disputed site was a revered place for 125 crore Indians, the temple should be constructed at the place known for Lord Ram’s birth.
Describing himself as a nationalist Muslim, he said the mosque should be constructed at a different place in Ayodhya in the name of martyr Ashfaqullah Khan, who belonged to Faizabad, and not in the name of Mughal emperor Babar.
He claimed the common Muslim regarded Babar as a foreigner but had great regard for Ashfaqullah Khan.
