For Meera Talwar, owner of Talwar Petrol Pump at Narhi , the mantra for more profit is sharing of profit with staff which spurs them to work for more sale, not cheating the customers. Known for its clean image, the petrol pumps enjoys great credibility among people.

Talwar petrol pump in Narhi has been run by her family since 1950 but no one can point a finger towards it as it is famous for its clean dispensing system.

“We have built a reputation in Narhi because of honest dispensing,” Meera told HT.

She said that she was stunned to know that some petrol pumps had fitted remote devices to earn more profit.

“What the petrol thieves forget is that if they are caught stealing a few millilitres of petrol, they will lose their reputation for ever.”

The turnover and profit increased not by cheating but by increasing volume of sale, she said.

“I give special incentive to each of my staff for increasing the sale. I pay salaries of staff on time and pay all the funds and allowances with the salary. Hence they work hard for more sales and it gives me everything , including fame ,” said Meera .

“I want to tell petrol pump dealers not to side with corrupt people but to go for an honest approach and punish those who defame petrol dealers,” she added.
