AGRA: Miscreants have posted photographs of Vrindavan college girls with indecent comments on social media sites, including Facebook. An NGO lodged a complaint at the kotwali police station on Thursday.

“We raised the issue in the past also. The nuisance has resurfaced now. About ten days ago, a few photos of college girls here were posted on Facebook with indecent comments but no action was taken against them,” said Dr Laxmi Gautam, founder-convenor of Kanak Dhara Foundation which works for women’s rights.

“I lodged a complaint at the Vrindavan kotwali police station on Thursday and sought action against the guilty,” said Gautam.

Uday Veer Malik, the officer in charge of Vrindavan kotwali police station, on Friday said a case was registered on Thursday night and action will follow soon.

In August 2016, photographs of about 60 girls of Vrindavan were morphed and posted on social media sites and WhatsApp groups. Two local youths were arrested last year for forwarding these photos but the mastermind is yet to be nabbed.

UP minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who was in town on Friday, said it was a shameful incident. She assured action, saying women’s dignity was a priority for the state government. Another minister Swati Singh said the culprits would be dealt with strictly.
