DCA enter state cricket quarterfin­als

Sparkling half centuries by Avineesh Singh and Prashant Awasthi, and a five-wicket haul by Ashish Chopra helped Dhruv Cricket Academy (DCA) score a thrilling seven-run win against Sound Images Club to make it to the quarterfin­als of the 1st Kriative State Cricket Tournament here on Friday.

Ashish had five for 41, whereas Agha Shahid and Prashant Awasthi shared four wickets between them as SIC got out for 253 in 48.4 overs while chasing 261 in 50 overs. Yaduvendra Singh struck 109 in 90 balls with the help of 10 fours and four sixes whereas Milind Chaturvedi made 68-ball 51, which contained five hits to the fence, but the two couldn’t help the side win.

FINE BOWLING

Raj Navik (4/22) and Kushagra Arora (3/12) bowled well to fashion Northern Railway’s emphatic nine-wicket win against SDS Academy in the Sandeep Trophy Cricket league, at the RDSO Stadium here on Friday.

BRIEF SCORES

SDS 71 in 21.3 overs (Raj Navik 4 for 22, Kushagra Arora 3 for 12, Aman Tripathi 2 for 13) lost to Northern Railway 74 for 1 in 24.4 overs (Anshu 17).

CONVINCING WINS

Lucknow Cricket Foundation and Dhruv Cricket Academy Junior notched up convincing wins to collect full points in the Prime Sports Trophy Cricket Tournament here on Friday. LCF defeated Lucknow Cricketers by eight wickets, at the Chowk Stadium, whereas DCA defeated DCA Junior by 83 runs.
