Two young sisters, daughters of a retired defence personnel, were found murdered in their Ram Vihar colony residence in Para locality of the state capital on Tuesday.

Police said the blood-soaked bodies of Aarti, 24, and Antima, 17, were found lying in the kitchen and verandah.

Suspecting it to be the case of a murder done in fit of rage, the police initially ruled out loot.

However, they suspect the involvement of an insider in the crime. Both the girls were alone in their house when the incident took place. Their father LB Singh had gone to Command Hospital to get a medical check-up of his wife Renu Singh done.

Singh and his wife left at around 8.10am and returned at 9.30am only to find the girls lying fatally injured. He immediately rushed them to the Command Hospital but the duo was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Singh said both had multiple injuries on face and head and the elder daughter was lying in the kitchen while the younger one was in the verandah outside the kitchen.

The girl’s father told the cops that he was expected to return by afternoon but came back early as the check-up could not be done due to some reasons. He said he found the main gate open and was shocked to find his two daughters lying on the floor.

Inspector general (IG) of police, A Satish Ganesh and deputy IG, Praveen Kumar said the preliminary examination stated that the girls were attacked with a sharp-edged weapon. They said the injuries are of similar nature suggesting the involvement of a single assailant in the crime.

The DIG said a team of forensic experts and a dog squad was called at the spot to examine. He said the crime branch sleuths and electronic surveillance team have also been roped in to probe the matter.

While the elder sister was pursing BTC (Basic Training Certificate) from Dr Shakuntala Mishra University after completing her B Tech from a private college, the younger sister was pursing her intermediate from St Mary’s School. The victims’ brother Ashutosh is an engineer in a private construction firm and was in Barabanki at the time of incident. He returned after getting a call from his father informing him about the incident.
