Another fuel station found using cheat chips
A special team of STF sleuths and the administrative officials found yet another petrol pump duping consumers in the state capital on Tuesday.
The petrol pump, Sahni Fuel Centre, located in Gomti Nagar, was found using remote-operated chips.
Officials with the district administration said the fuel dispensers have been sealed and FIR is being lodged against the petrol pump owner for fraud.
Officials raided the Sahni Fuel Centre during noon hours. During inspection, the officials who were accompanied by technicians and officials of the weight and measurement department found that of the total 16 nozzles, 12 were found tampered.
“Barring four, all of its nozzles were found tampered. It was also found that the pump was weighing 150ml less fuel for every 5 litres of petrol and that is too much,” said an administrative officer.
Besides, the district administration is also going to launch a drive against adulteration.
District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, on the day made a detailed discussion with the officials, to launch a drive in a big way. The drive will fight against adulteration in petrol or kerosene.
Officials said, the drive is expected to take off by mid May that will cover the petrol pumps, both in the urban and rural part of the district.
So far the team has conducted raids at more than 28 petrol pumps and at least four gas agencies.
Officials said, the drive would be continued for another couple of weeks until all the petrol pumps in the city are checked. City altogether has around 182 petrol pumps.
