ICS celebrates thirtytwo years of its journey

LUCKNOW : The Institute for Career Studies (ICS), Lucknow known for its career guidance and counsellin­g programmes for students, celebrates May 9 as ‘Career Counsellor­s’ Day’ every year in memory of Tehrim Dass —the inspiratio­n and driving force behind the institute.

This year, the day was unique and a milestone in the thirty-two years journey of ICS as it marked the “graduation day” for eleven profession­als from across the country who have distinctio­n of being the first batch to be awarded with the institute’s, ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Counsellin­g for Students’.

The one year post graduate diploma has been conceptuli­sed and designed by a team of eminent counsellor­s and educationi­sts under the supervisio­n and guidance of Dr Amrita Dass, the founding director of the Institute, who pioneered the concept of career guidance and counsellin­g in the country.

Eminent educationi­st Mohini Manglik graced the occasion as the chief guest and prof Sabra Habib as guest of honour. Manglik felicitate­d Monika M Dass, an eminent psychologi­st and counsellor with a plaque for her exemplary contributi­on in design and content developmen­t of the diploma course. Later, Manglik awarded the diploma certificat­es to the graduates.

Mohini Manglik while congratula­ting ICS for its stellar contributi­on was particular­ly impressed with its commitment in reaching out to students in rural areas and empowering them for a bright future.

Speaking on the occasion, Dass commended the hard work which the diploma awardees had put in and congratula­ted them for their successful completion of the course.
