No vigilantis­m, let law take its course, says chief minister

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asked the people and organisati­ons not to take law into their hands and inform the police if they find any illegal activity.

“There is no need to take law into your hand. If you find something illegal happening around, go to the police and let them act,” the CM said while addressing a programme on the eve of Kranti Diwas at Bahinsali ground here.

“If there are reports of illegal slaughterh­ouses, it is the duty of law enforcing agencies to take firm action against them,” the CM said.

Thanking people for bringing about a political change in the state, Yogi said the path of making India a superpower passed through Uttar Pradesh for which an overall change was required.

“There should be no discrimina­tion on the basis of caste and religion but at the same time there is no place for appeasemen­t in the society,” he said.

“Farmers are the top priority of the Centre and the UP government and decisions have been taken for their welfare. Sugarcane dues of Rs 6,200 crore have been released in the last one month and the remaining amount will be cleared within 120 days,” Yogi said.

He added that the government helped potato farmers and opened wheat procuremen­t centres to ensure purchase of their produce.

“The farmers are free to sell their produce if they are getting good price,” he said.

“We ensured compliance of the order of the National Green Tribunal and closed illegal slaughterh­ouses in the state. We also formed anti-Romeo squads to check harassment of girls,” he said.

Appealing the people to stop using plastic, the CM said it was a major source of pollution. He expressed surprise over the inclusion of 52 cities from Uttar Pradesh in the list of dirtiest places in the country, he appealed the people to make efforts to keep their surroundin­gs clean.

Earlier, the CM visited wheat procuremen­t centre in Kharkhauda and inspected Dalit-dominated Shergarhi locality. The CM visited the emergency ward of the Meerut Medical College hospital and enquired about the facilities provided to patients.

Yogi also visited the historic Kali Paltan Temple and offered puja.

He also paid floral tribute to freedom-fighters at Shaheed Smarak and reviewed developmen­t projects.
