PM TO ATTEND YOGA DAY IN LKO; CM, RAJNATH CONDUCT REVIEW
The Uttar Pradesh government will observe the International Yoga Day at the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan on June 21. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the programme along with around 55,000 other participants.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath made the announcement after his meeting with union home minister, Rajnath Singh, in this regard here on Sunday. They along with minister of state for AYUSH, Mahendra Singh Saini, took stock of preparations and found the Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan fit for the event.
The CM said the Yoga programme would be held at all district, tehsil and block headquarters as well as at all the public places including schools and parks.
Efforts would be made to ensure participation of social organisations and the general public in the Yoga Day events throughout the state, he added.
“The government will provide free transport to people to participate in the Yoga programme in Lucknow,” the CM said. “They will also be provided Yoga mat, T-shirt besides refreshment,” he added.
Yogi, however, made it clear that it would not be a government programme but an event to be organised with the help of the people.
“Several social organisations, educational institutions have evinced their interest in helping the government hold the programme,” the chief minister said.
He has directed the officials to hold a 28-day training programme for the people to participate in the main event.
He has also asked them to put up LED screens at parks for those who fail to reach the main venue.
