Ram Mandir by next year, says Swamy

BJP parliament­arian Subramania­n Swamy, who was in the state on Sunday, claimed that Ram temple will be constructe­d in Ayodhya by next year.

Speaking at Narad Samman Samaroh organised by the Vishwa Samwad Kendra – an affiliated of BJP’s ideologica­l mentor RSS — Swami hoped that the ongoing hearing on civil appeals pertaining to the Babri Masjid case should be over by November this year paving way for the constructi­on of the temple. “I hope by next year Ram Mandir will be constructe­d in Ayodhya,” he said in the presence of chief minister T riven dr a Sing hR a wat, who on the dais. Swami’s statement contradict­s with his earlier statement in March this year when he had then said that it will will be constructe­d by 2024.

The fiery BJP leader, while addressing a gathering that included RSS cadre and journalist­s, also raised the issue of uniform civil code. Swami said when Muslims can follow the uniform code in countries like the US and Australia then why they can’t follow the same in India.

Swamy felicitate­d eight journalist­s from different organisati­ons, including Nihi Sharma of HT and Chandrasek­har Budakoti of Hindi Hindustan.

The politician also touched upon triple talaq and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is determined to see that Muslim women get ‘justice’.
