Temple cause: Maurya, Swamy hold different views on how to go about it
AYODHYA: Deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday assured saints of a majestic temple at Lord Ram’s birthplace in Ayodhya.
However, they had differing views on how to go about it.
The occasion was the 79th birthday celebrations of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das at Mani Ram Das Chavni Peeth in Ayodhya, where Subramanian Swamy was the chief guest.
Nritya Gopal Das is president of Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, a party to the ongoing Ayodhya case in Supreme Court.
Maurya advocated the dialogue process with Muslims to resolve the Ayodhya issue like chief minister Yogi Adityanath had recommended on May 31 at the same venue at the inaugural function of week-long birthday celebrations of Das.
Maurya touched the feet of not only Das, his guru, but also of other seers present there when he went on stage to share the dais with saints.
“I know what you all want. I also want Ram Mandir at the Lord’s birthplace. As chief minister Yogi Adityanath has already pointed out, the issue will be resolved through dialogue and blessings of saints,” said Maurya.
Subramanian Swamy, however, said: “There can be no solution of the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute through dialogue with Muslims.”
Swamy reposed full faith in the Supreme Court.
“I am not disenchanted by the Supreme Court. I have full faith in it,” he said. Amidst slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Swamy said: “Muslims who are party to the ongoing Ayodhya case in Supreme Court are afraid to enter into any out of court settlement on the issue.”
“They fear fundamentalist elements of their community if they go for an out of court settlement,” said Swamy.
Addressing thousands of saints, Swamy said: “In Supreme Court, Muslims will not be able to prove their point in favour of Babri Mosque.” He also advocated day-to-day hearing of the Ayodhya case in the Supreme Court.
“When the court reopens in July, I will plead for hearing of the Ram Janmabhoomi case on a day -to-day basis. If this happens, then in four months the hearing will be over,” said Swamy.
Justifying the case for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Swamy said: “Mosque can be built anywhere. Even namaz can be offered at railway platforms, roads or any place. But lord Ram’s birthplace cannot be changed. He will be worshipped at his birthplace in Ayodhya.”
Citing an example of Saudi Arabia, Swamy said: “Even in Mecca, mosques are razed to pave way for other buildings.”
Swamy ended his speech with a promise of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya by the next birthday of Nritya Gopal Das.
Former MP Ram Vilas Vedanti advocated a law in Parliament to pave way for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi must convene a joint session of both houses of Parliament to formulate a law to pave way for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya,” said Vedanti.
Former union minister of state for home, Swami Chinmayanand, Sadhvi Ritambhara, VHP leader Praveen Togadia, Madhya Pradesh minister Jai Bhan Singh Pawaiya, among others, also expressed their views.
Shankaracharya Swami Vasudevanand and Janmejay Sharan Maharaj among other saints were also present there.
