Relief in sight: Four more CNG stns to come up

Fuel stations to be set up at Rae Bareli road, Faizabad road Buddheshwar and Vrindavan

LUCKNOW: CNG users will heave a sigh of relief in the days to come as Green Gas Limited (GGL) is set to install four more fuel stations in Lucknow that would be operational in a couple of months.

One CNG fuel station is coming up on Rae Bareilly road, one on Faizabad road while the two others would be at Buddheshwar and Sector 6 in Vrindavan. “The one at Sector 6 will be functional in the next 20 days and the two others will become operational in a couple of months,” said an officer with GGL.

One CNG station at Sector 18 Vrindavan became functional on Monday, added the officer.

The move came after district magistrate Kaushalraj Sharma directed officials of Green Gas Ltd to bring the ongoing ‘CNG crisis’ to an end and ensure hassle-free supply to users.

The district magistrate also asked the IOC to ensure that those CNG dispensers, which were seized during checking drives after ‘petrol pump scam’ should become operational under the direct control of the company.

Against the requirement of around 1.5 lakh kg gas daily, GGL was supplying around 1 lakh kg in the city. Lucknow requires at least 20 CNG nozzles more to reduce the rush at CNG stations, said officials of Green Gas Ltd.

Till last year, there were 22,000 CNG vehicles in the state capital and the number had risen to around 29,000 at present. But the dispensing units had not increased in that proportion.

In fact, two of the 13 CNG stations in city had been shut by the IOC due in wake of ‘chipgate’.
