More incidents in West UP villages

MEERUT: More incidents of hair chopping were reported from various districts of western Uttar Pradesh creating panic among the people.

Fresh cases came to light on Saturday in Meerut, Bulandshah­r, Baghpat, Bijnor, Saharanpur and Hapur.

In Baraut town of Baghpat, the hair of a six-year-old girl was chopped.

In another incident reported from Dhabainaga­r locality of Baghpat, a woman, Chandni, said she was cooking in the kitchen and when she went to the store to bring rice, she experience­d se vere headache and noticed that someone had chopped off her hair. The police have recorded her statement and have taken the sample of her hair .

Another woman, Kanchan, claimed she was sleeping at her house in Rampur Pawti village of Janikhurd area of Baghpat on Saturday afternoon when she felt as if someone was trying to strangulat­e her. “When I woke up I found a part of my braid near the cot,” she said. In a similar case in Muzaffarna­gar, Reeta, wife of Kale Jatav, was sleeping at her house in Ramraj area on Saturday night. She started screaming after someone allegedly pulled her hair. The family found a part of her braid near the door.

Similar cases were reported from Bulandshah­r, Hapur, Bijnor and Saharanpur. Additional director general of police (ADG), Meerut zone, Prashant Kumar warned the people not to indulge in rumour-mongering.
