VARANASI: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) national office bearer Dr Manmohan Vaidya on Sunday accused ‘those from other ideologies’ of hatching a conspiracy to defame Hindutva.

“In India, Hindutva is such a concept which connects human being and society together. But there is a conspiracy to defame Hindutva. People belonging to some other ideologies are dubbing and branding us (RSS volunteers) violent and intolerant,” he said at an event organised by the RSS at Swatantrata Bhavan, BHU, on the eve of Raksha Bandhan.

Vaidya further alleged that efforts were being made to malign the image of the country within the country.

“But nowadays, any effort to malign image of the country is being treated as a symbol of progressiveness (by the people belonging to other ideologies),” he said. “We are identified for Hindutva, Indian thought and philosophy across the world and the world needs our ideology in its original form,” he added.

“Our identity is one and unity in diversity is our greatest achievement. Religion connects one another. For instance, it acts as a bridge between king and public,” Vaidya said. On Raksha Bandhan, he said it is a great festival wherein sisters tie raksha sutra on wrist of their brothers who resolve to protect their sisters. “Raksha Bandhan also gives us inspiration to serve the poor, elderly people and those belong to weaker sections of the society,” he said.

Vice chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) GC Tripathi presided over the function. Some 1200 people, including a large number of women, attended the event. Several senior office bearers of the RSS also graced the occasion.
