In fresh trouble for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and former minister Yaqub Qureshi’s family, a case was registered against his son Bhoora for a brawl with traders who did not give way to his car during a traffic jam here on Saturday night.

Bhoora’s bouncers (bodyguards) were also booked for assaulting the traders. The case was registered on the complaint of Vijay Rastogi, a trader. The Qureshi family tried to reach a settlement with the complainant.

Senior superintendent of police Manzil Saini confirmed that the accused had given a copy of the settlement (papers) but police had decided to initiate action against the accused nonetheless.

She said raids were conducted at two places, but the accused was still at large.

The incident took place behind Sohrab gate police post on Saturday night when Bhoora’s car got stuck in a jam.

This is not the first time that a member of the BSP leader’s family has had a brush with the law.

The former minister’s daughter Aasma had forced her way into a public school and beaten a class 8 student who allegedly had complained to the teacher about some classmates, including Aasma’s niece, playing truant.

She was caught on CCTV and raids were conducted to arrest her, but the Qureshi family got a stay on her arrest from the high court till submission of a chargesheet.
