ALLAHABAD: A day after the video of a school manager thrashing students at Rudra Prayag Vidya Mandir School here went viral, an FIR was registered against him at Soraon police station in Allahabad.

The action was taken on the complaint of Phaphamau police outpost in-charge Chandrabhushan Maurya. District magistrate Sanjay Kumar constituted a team of officials to investigate the incident.

The team comprises the subdivisional magistrate, Soraon, circle officer, Soraon, and the district inspector of schools. The team will submit its report by August 9.

The video had shown school manager Satyendra Dwivedi thrashing the students, including two girls, when they had reportedly complained of heat in the classrooms and other problems at school. Parents of two of the students approached the police but later agreed to a compromise with the school authorities.

However, the video of the incident, which was reportedly shot by one of the school staff, went viral on the social media and WhatsApp on Saturday.

Taking serious note of the incident, inspector general of police (Allahabad range) Ramit Sharma instructed officials to lodge an FIR against the school manager.

Soraon station house officer Satendra Singh said the FIR was registered against the school manager under sections 74, 75, 82 and others of the Indian Penal Code.

Unidentified people, who circulated the video on the social media, have been booked for violation of provisions of the IT Act. The video exposed the identity of the victimsed juveniles, which was an offence, Singh added.

Sources claimed that the school was not recognised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

A signboard at the school mentioned the affiliation number fraudulently, the sources said. Sources in the Central Board of Secondary Education said the school was not on the list of 76 schools affiliated to it here.
