Ardh Kumbh: NCR begins widening FOB at Alld junction

ALLAHABAD: The North Central Railway (NCR) has begun widening of a foot over bridge (FOB) at Allahabad junction to ensure smooth flow of passengers during the Ardh Kumbh 2019. The Allahabad junction connects platform number 1 to platform number 10.

Besides rail users, the FOB also helps city residents in moving from Civil Lines side to city side and vice versa. Significan­tly, four new ramps will also be constructe­d for differentl­yabled people at platform number 7/8 and 9/10 during the widening of the FOB.

The North Central Railway engineerin­g officials placed 20 girders on the first day of the mega project with the help of 330 ton heavy duty crane taking mega block of eight hours at the line number 12, 13 and 14 of the station on Sunday.

“The widening of the FOB and constructi­on of ramps are being done at a cost of Rs 8.80 crore and will be completed by end of December,” said divisional railway manager (DRM), Allahabad division, SK Pankaj.

“The task has been undertaken to increase the capacity of the FOB in view of the Ardh Kumbh,” he added. Additional divisional railway manager, Allahabad division, AK Dwivedi along with other senior divisional officials was present during the work.
