‘THAI ISLANDS POPULAR AS WEDDING DESTINATIONS’

LUCKNOW: Famous islands of Thailand have become popular as wedding destinations among Indians and the Thailand government is all set to promote the flow of tourists from Lucknow to the ‘Land of Smiles’.

Deputy Governor for International marketing, Thailand government, Srisuda Wanapinyosak, was in Lucknow on Friday with a 28-member delegation of Thai tour operators for an interactive session with tour operators of Lucknow.

The flow of tourist from Lucknow to Thailand is all set to increase after a direct flight from the state capital to Bangkok.

“Several islands of Thailand are turning out to be favourite wedding destinations for Indians. Islands like Pattaya, Phuket, Khao Lak, Rayong and also Bangkok city are emerging as favourite wedding destinations,” Wanapinyosak said.

Come October and the destination wedding season would pick-up, she added. She also pointed out that Thailand was emerging as favourite tourist destination for people from Lucknow. “There is a direct flight from Lucknow to Thailand. This direct air connectivity will further boost tourist flow from Lucknow to Thailand,” Wanapinyosak said.

The Thailand government is also observing month of August as Women’s Traveller month as Thai Queen’s birthday falls in this month. “At the emigration check in Bangkok, there is special ‘Pink lane’ for women travellers,” said Wanapinyosak.

Islands like Pattaya, Phuket, Khao Lak, Rayong and Bangkok city are emerging as favourite wedding destinations.
