LUCKNOW: Panic gripped the Bahraich’s Rupaidhia area after candles, which look liked dynamite sticks, were found in bushes near porous India-Nepal border on Thursday night.

The Shashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel spotted the candles during patrolling.

UP Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) officials and bomb disposal squads (BDS) were immediately rushed to the spot.

IG ATS said at least six sticks with dynamite printed over them were found.

He said the team led by additional SP Dinesh Yadav was rushed to the spot to properly examine the materials. Bomb disposal squad after examining them confirmed that it is not explosives. He said such candles with dynamite written on them are available in the market and the probe suggested that somebody tried to cause mischief by placing explosive sticks shaped candles on the border.

Arun said the SSB and local police authorities have been alerted in the adjacent areas and recovered candles have been seized to further probe about the mischievous attempt.

Earlier on Thursday, a crude bomb packed in a polythene bag along with a letter reading ‘revenge will be taken from Indians for the death of Abu Dujana’ was found on the Amritsarbound Akal Takht SF Express which was coming from Kolkata.
