India, US announce 1st joint entreprene­urship summit in November

WASHINGTON: India and the United States on Thursday announced the schedule for their first joint global entreprene­urship summit in November via tweets by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump.

“India and US will co-host the Global Entreprene­urship Summit (GES) at Hyderabad from 28-30 November 2017,” Modi tweeted, tagging Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump, who will lead the US delegation.

He further wrote: “The Summit is a unique opportunit­y for bringing together entreprene­urs and start ups with global leaders. Look forward to Ms. Ivanka Trump’s presence at #GES 2017 Hyderabad as the leader of the US delegation.”

Trump later tweeted:“@IvankaTrum­p will lead the US delegation to India this fall, supporting women’s entreprene­urship globally.” Ivanka retweeted all of Modi’s posts, and wrote one of her own

and posted it with a picture of her with the prime minister, from Modi’s June visit. “Honored to lead the US delegation to #GES2017 in India & meet with Prime Minister Modi & passionate entreprene­urs from around the globe!”

Modi and Trump had announced the joint enterprise when they met in Washington in June. A fact sheet issued by the White House said: “The United States and India will co-host a Global Entreprene­urship Summit this year in India, focused on supporting women entreprene­urs, and geared toward solving 21st century challenges and improving lives. President Trump has asked Ivanka Trump to lead the United States delegation to the Global Entreprene­urship Summit.”
